I attempted to go into the Navy in the Summer after graduation but my "Quickly" added weight (Weight-On & Bananas) did not last after the bumpy Sunset Bus ride to Albuquerque to be sworn in! I was going in on the "Buddy Plan" with Dolly Cannon, LHS 1969. She made it and she became a Medical Tech.
I married John W. Doerschuk, TSGT USAF Ret., in Lubbock in 1974. We have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. We first were stationed at Reese AFB then moved to the Abilene area and was stationed at Dyess AFB. Our last 2 years of active duty were at Andersen AFB, Guam, USA. After he finished his "Teaching Certification" at ACU, he taught at Crosbyton, Floydada, Paint Creek and Brownwood. We retired to the Abilene area, living now in Baird, TX. We attend Clyde Church of Christ and are member so the American Legion Post & Auxiliary 661, Leuders, TX. I still "Do" arts & crafts. I still prefer to draw Profiles in Pencil, Charcoal, and Pastels. I love sewing, antiques, gardening, canning, love doing jigsaw puzzels, music (my children always warn people "Watch out she'll sing you a song!"), genealogy, am an Avon representative and I have now been a ham operator (KF5BAB) for 10 years.
